12 Hours Away From ACL Reconstruction
Only 12 hours until I leave the house to go to surgery for my ACL reconstruction for my left knee...
Should I stay at my parents place the night before surgery and have them drive me to the hospital. Let’s see… I’ll be at my parents for several days and I’ll be questioning my sanity after a few hours of that, lol. OK, we’ll stay at my apartment for one last night and make sure I have everything packed! Check out Mike’s Knee Surgery Laundry List - Survival Guide which I created and used pre-surgery! It’s late now… 9:30 PM. It seems that my decision is made. I’ll stay at my place for tonight. Probably best that way as Mom will be all panicked if I’m around and tomorrow they will all lose it to make sure we are in the city in time…
I’m a little nervous but otherwise way too calm. I’m about to have my knee invaded in the worst way and I’m just going to allow those medical professionals to do so. I’m still up in the air about the allo and being told I will only truly be happy with auto results. Some have said absolutely yes, others have said no. I’ll see how I feel tomorrow morning. Right now I still need to finish packing all my crap. Do you have any idea how much “stuff” someone can accumulate over the course of a year? How about seven? OK, I’m going to just have to toss most of this stuff into boxes and deal with it when I get to the new apartment.
Hopefully I’ll get 4-5 hours sleep. Since Lenox Hill is a short trip away from work, I’m going to cab myself along with all my junk there and then have Mom and Dad pick me up and go to The Hospital. You have to fast from midnight before surgery so I went out and gorged myself with vanilla fudge ice cream and a half gallon of lowfat chocolate milk… yum yum!!! I’m not going to bother doing any more ACL research. I’ve read myself to the death and just want to get this thing over and done with. Good night.
